Why this is different

Built so it can't betray you

Many inbox cleaners rely on permissions that can expose email content. Inbox Control connects through Gmail metadata and never requests message bodies. That is not just a policy promise. It is a technical limit.

Can't read your mail

We see sender, subject, date, and read status. We never request the message body. The permission is narrow by design and enforced by Google.

Can't delete anything

There is no delete, trash, or archive action in Inbox Control. Those capabilities are not hidden behind a setting. They are simply not built.

Everything undoable

Every action records exactly which messages it touched. One click within 30 days puts the unread badges back precisely as they were.

How it works

Three steps to a quiet inbox

No folders to build, no rules to write, no afternoon lost to setup.

Connect safely

Sign in with Google using the metadata-only permission. See how many promotions, newsletters, and social pings are buried in there, plus who sends the most.

One confirmation

Approve a cleanup and watch it sweep batch by batch, with live progress and a stop button. Only the unread badge changes. Protected senders are excluded on our servers, not just in the app.

It stays clean

Turn on nightly clean and new noise gets marked read while you sleep. Wake up to an unread badge that finally means something.

The honest comparison

A narrower permission model

Inbox tools use different permissions and actions. Here is the deliberately narrow path Inbox Control takes.

The promise

What Inbox Control will never do

Trust is the entire product. These are not just settings. They are how the app is built:

  • Never read, store, or process the content of your email
  • Never delete, trash, or archive a message
  • Never change anything without your explicit confirmation or your standing nightly instruction, which you can switch off anytime
  • Never sell your data or share it for advertising

Inbox Control's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Questions

Fair things to ask

Do my emails go anywhere?

No. Your messages never leave Gmail, and Inbox Control never requests their contents. The app works with counts, senders, subjects, and read status. The only mailbox change it makes is removing or restoring the unread badge.

What if it marks something important as read?

Important, starred, and personal mail is excluded automatically, and you can protect any sender. If something slips through anyway, one click in your activity record restores everything exactly as it was, for 30 days.

Why does Google's permission screen sound so broad?

Google's wording for the mark-read permission covers more than we use. That is Google's standard tier language. Inbox Control only removes or restores the unread badge, and your activity record shows each action.

How much does it cost?

Free during our invite-only beta. When billing opens, Pro is $4.99/month or $39/year. Everyone who joined during the beta keeps that price for life.

Ready to see your number?

The scan is free, metadata-only, and honestly a little shocking.
